Good evening racers,
We have just concluded a very productive meeting with the Bar Manager and Head Chef at the club and have some information regarding the social side of this weekend’s Shanghai & Nimrod Cup.
Saturday
As always, the biggest challenge is going to be dealing with an influx of people at the same time. They wish to pass their thanks on to everyone who has submitted breakfast orders. They have requested where possible for orders to be collected and paid for by a representative of the boat in bulk or groups, rather than individuals, to ensure that maximum efficiency can be maintained. Collections are between 7:30 and 08:00.
They would also request that any CBYC club cards (visitors and members) top up their cards while collecting breakfast to help with the rush to the bar after racing.
In order to help with the post-race rush for liquid refreshments, they will also be opening the lower floor bar to help ease waiting times.
The BBQ on Saturday will run from 13:30 to 17:00. Hot dogs are expected to be priced at £1.50, and burgers £2.50. This includes potato salad and coleslaw. Veggie options will be available of course. Please pay for any BBQ orders in the downstairs bar and take the receipt to the chef at the BBQ station outside to collect your food.
Ice creams and sweets are also available, so please feel free to invite families and friends.
Anyone planning to eat in the club on Saturday evening can do so from the full menu (see board in bar for details and availability) from 18:00. The kitchen will be closed between 17:00 and 18:00.
Sunday
For breakfast, the request is that orders are again collected/paid for in bulk/groups. Collections are between 08:30 and 09:00.
Anyone fancying a Sunday roast has the opportunity to book directly with the bar on 02920 226575. The booking will need to be made by 15:00 on Friday. The bar will not be accepting walk-ins on Sunday.
The inclusive hot buffet (probably sausage, chips and curry sauce) will be out from 15:00 to 16:00 on Sunday. We hope to start the presentation as soon as possible for all those planning to come along.
We have a provisional date for next year with the first weekend in Portishead falling on a bank holiday. They are fantastic tides that will allow a longer window for racing and a more time to recover from hangovers but I’d like to gauge interest in whether a bank holiday weekend makes it more difficult to arrange crew etc. Please talk through with crews and let us know feedback over the weekend.
Think that’s it.
See you on the water
